LEWISTOWN - Dorothy L. Leonard, 91, formerly of Yeagertown, died at 7:55 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Ohesson Manor.

Born on June 24, 1922, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late James and Francelia (Kahley) Notestine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Leonard Sr., on June 26, 1990, and one brother, Robert Notestine.

She is survived by: children, Thomas A. Leonard Jr. and wife, Denise, and Susan Clark and husband, Dennis, both of Yeagertown; grandchildren, Deb and Rod Yoder, of Belleville, Mike Clark and companion, April Maben, of Yeagertown, Rebecca Hery, and Jessica Withaar, of Texas; great-grandchildren: Noah and Caleb Yoder, Madeline Clark, Joshua, Jacob, Nathaniel and Samuel Hery and Alexander Withaar.

Dorothy worked as a telephone operator at the American Viscose, as a waitress at Riden's Restaurant, as a secretary for Jury Commissioner, as a secretary at Lewistown Insurance and Realty for 25 years, and lastly owner/secretary of Thomas Leonard Fire Restoration.

She was involved in the Yeagertown Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Yeagertown Civic Group (who was involved with sesquicentennial) and doing craft shows.

Dorothy was always such a loving mother, grandma and great-Grammy who really cherished family gatherings and spending time with the grandkids. These last few years were so painful for the family to see such a beloved matriarch fall victim to the lousy disease of Alzheimer's. Knowing God has a special place for her with him will give solace to her family. A special thank you to the staff at Ohesson for the great care and love she received while a resident there.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Chaplain Tim Garman officiating. After the service, there will be committal service at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.

Memorial donations in Dorothy's name can be made to Ohesson Manor, 276 Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.hellerhoenstinefuneralhome.com.
