BURNHAM - Protecting lives will be the topic of conversation during a pro-life town hall meeting later this month in Burnham.
The meeting, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation and Citizens Concerned for Human Life of Mifflin-Juniata Inc., is set for 7 to 9 p.m. April 29 at Quality Inn and Suites, 13015 Ferguson Valley Road, Burnham. The event is free and open to the public.
The pro-life meeting will feature Michael Ciccocioppo, executive director, and Micaiah Bilger, education director, of the federation.
"It's an educational event," Bilger said, focused on current news regarding abortion and euthanasia.
She said the town hall is intended to provide information from a pro-life perspective regarding the effects of the Affordable Care Act, notorious abortionists in Pennsylvania, recent pro-life gains, defense of pro-life beliefs and more.
"We want to make people aware of what's happening," Bilger said. "We're not against health care reform, we're about protecting lives."
The federation has been holding town hall meetings across the state for four years. This is the first time the event will be held in Mifflin County.
"There is a lot of confusion across the state on so many pro-life issues," Ciccioppo said in a press release. "So we are circling the commonwealth to present the pro-life perspective on current issues in our state and nation.
Bilger said the ultimate goal is to promote a culture that respects every human life.
"I hope this gives people information about what's happening with abortion and euthanasia in our nation ... these are critically important issues that people need to be aware of," Bilger urged.
The pro-life town hall tour also includes stops in Danville, Gettysburg, West Chester, Titusville, Clarion, New Castle, Latrobe, Huntingdon and Mechanicsburg.
"All our volunteers at Mifflin/Juniata CCHL are thrilled to host this pro-life town hall meeting right here in our own backyard," said Frank Cunningham, president of the pro-life group, in a press release. "I strongly encourage everyone, regardless of their personal beliefs, to come out for this informative event.
After a series of fast-paced presentations, there will be a question and answer period.
