BURNHAM - The road construction on Freedom Avenue for the new sewer system is now completed.
Noah Wise, road master for Burnham Borough, said the new system was part of a Pennvest project.
"The project was done in conjunction with the upgrades to the Waste Water Treatment Plant," Wise said.

The improvements on Freedom Avenue to integrate a new sewer system are now complete.
The project on Freedom Avenue was the final stage in a project that was started eight years ago on other roads in the borough. The project also was a requirement from the Department of Environmental Protection. Wise said they had to divide the storm sewer lines into two separate lines, using both the existing lines and new lines. The new lines were integrated under the new sidewalks and the existing lines are now used for storm sewer runoff.
"This is all in an effort to keep flows down," Wise said. "It will help to keep proper flow lines in check, so one is not more worked than another."
This project was funded by grant money to both separate the sewer lines and to upgrade the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
