MIFFLINTOWN - William C. "Bill" Hoyer Sr., 69, of Mifflintown, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his home.
Born Sept. 2, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Alexander and Verna Ruth (Palm) Hoyer.
He is survived by: his wife, Chrissie (Confer) Hoyer, whom he married Nov. 28, 1963; four children, William C. Hoyer Jr., of Port Royal, Kimberly L. Orr, of Lewistown, Russell A. Hoyer, of Honey Grove, and Holly A. Bustillo of Loch Sheldrake, N.Y.; one brother, Robert B. Sweitzer, of Lewistown; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Hoyer, and one sister, Grace Sheffer.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War.
He was a truck driver for Zimmerman Truck Lines Inc. and a security officer at Empire Kosher Poultry.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Major Raymond Simpson officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
