BURNHAM - The flavor and spice of Mexican culture is coming to Burnham at the new Cousin Pedros restaurant in the Greater Lewistown Shopping Plaza in Burnham.
With a menu of tacos, burritos and other Mexican favorites, owner Tom McClellan is sure his restaurant is the next big thing in local food.
"There are so many businesses trying to do tacos around here, but none of them are really succeeding," McClellan said. "I'm the only one making tacos the way they should be made. Cousin Pedro's will fill a void around here."

Originally from Lewistown, McClellan got his first taste of authentic Mexican food in Texas during his travels across the country.
"I loved this restaurant called Speedy Gonzales and would go there all the time," McClellan said. "I remember thinking one night, this would be really fun to do one day."
Years later, McClellan finally saved up enough money to bring his dream back to Lewistown and open Cousin Pedro's.
"All of our food is completely fresh, nothing processed, and made-to-order," McClellan said. "The concept is quantity and quality."
The restaurant even features a tortilla press in the dining room where customers can watch the staff make fresh tortillas from rolled dough, McClellan said. Behind the kitchen doors, the same rule of quality is applied to the fresh chips and taco shells made in-house, he said.
Customers can get a first taste of Cousin Pedros at the grand opening event on May 15. A one time deal of five tacos for $5 will be available all day long as well as a number of raffles and registration for the June 1 taco eating contest.
Though phone orders will not be accepted during the grand opening, they can be placed starting May 16 at 953-9656.
Cousin Pedro's is open for service from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, contact McClellan at the restaurant or visit the Cousin Pedros Facebook page.
