LEWISTOWN - Gerald R. Thomas, 77, of 513 Pitt Street, Lewistown, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his home.
Born Nov. 13, 1935, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Mary Catherine (Knepp) Thomas.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Joyce L. (Greenaway) Thomas, on July 15, 2008; his children, Dennis L. Miller and Beverly J. Miller; two brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah L. Gross and companion, Mel Eby Sr., of Lewistown, Charles Miller and wife, Yolanda, of Norman, Okla., Steven M. Miller and wife, Beth, of Reading, Violet Y. Seiler and husband, James, of Lewistown, and Kay D. Breon and companion, Fred Wolfley, of Lewistown; a grandson whom he raised, Michael C. Lash; 13 grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Frank Thomas and wife, Hazel, of Lewistown, and his sister, Elsie Royer, of Lewistown.
He was employed as a crane operator at New Holland for 35 and a half years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Parkview Church of the Brethren.
Gerald enjoyed fishing, tinkering at his bicycle shop and going to yard sales.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas McElrath officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
