Douglas C. King

LEWISTOWN - Douglas C. King, 62, of 170 Cliffside Drive, Lewistown, died at 6:04 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at his home.

Born June 26, 1950, in Connellsville, he was a son of the late Lester and Jeanne (Brooks) King.

He is survived by: his wife, Joyce (Long) King, whom he married on Feb. 27, 1988; his children, Maggie E. King, of York, Stephany J. King, of West Chester, Stephen D. King, of Lewistown; and his stepson, Nathan J. Koontz, of Lewistown.

He is also survived by his brothers, Philip King and wife, Rebecca, of Pittsburgh, and Mark King and wife, Debbie, of Connellsville, and his sister, Leanne Bell and companion, Kevin Bigham, of Connellsville.

Doug was a 1968 graduate of Connellsville High School, a 1972 graduate of Penn State University, with a bachelor's degree in human development and he graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1973.

He was a licensed funeral director in the the state of Pennsylvania since 1974. He was employed with the Heller's Funeral Home from 1986 to 1991 and was then a supervisor at Heller- Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home from 1991 to the present.

Doug was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Lewistown, and a member of the Lewistown Country Club, where he was a past board member and golf committee chairman. He was a member of the Lewistown Elks Lodge No. 663, member and former officer of the Lewistown Moose Lodge No. 143, past member of the United Way, American Heart Association, and Lewistown Kiwanis Club and a member of the Lewistown Masonic Lodge No. 203.

Doug was an avid golfer. He loved his Penn State Nittany Lions, the Pittsburgh Steelers and spending time with family and friends.

Uncle Doug was always very proud and never hesitated to boast about his three nephews, Matt and Jarrod King and Steven Bell, and their outstanding achievements in wrestling, being All-Americans in college. He also witnessed Jarrod become an NCAA national champion.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Lewistown C&MA Church, 50 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, with the Revs. John T. Looney and Gerald Krum officiating.

His family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
