LEWISTOWN - On Tuesday, President Barack Obama issued an extensive, nationwide proposal in hopes of curbing gun violence. The president signed 23 executive measures that aim to change the process of obtaining, possessing and selling firearms.
A few of the proposed measures include banning "military-style" assault weapons, limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds and the requirement of background checks on all gun sales including private sales.
The Sentinel contacted multiple local firearms dealers for opinions but none wished to comment on the new measures.
The Sentinel also called and left messages for state Sen. Jake Corman, Rep. Tom Marino and state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff. Those calls were not immediately returned.
