Violet D. ‘Vi’ Bonson

REEDSVILLE - Violet D. "Vi" Bonson, 70, of 8 Bonnie Lane, Reedsville, died Monday, Nov. 5, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born Nov. 11, 1941, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Carodiskey) Dunion. Vi is survived by her husband, Marlin Bonson, whom she married on July 18, 1959.

Also surviving are: two sons, J. Michael "Mike" Bonson and his wife, Grace, and William D. Bonson and his wife, Cindy; one daughter, Natalie A. Buchanan and her husband, Brian "Zeke"; grandchildren, Jason Bonson and his companion, Lori Beaston, of Milroy, Dana Kordwitz and her husband, Brad, of Altoona, Ryan Russler and his wife, Stephanie, Trent Russler and James Michael Bonson Jr., of Lewistown; two great-grandchildren, Gracie Anne Russler, of Reedsville, and Evan Russler, who was the light of her world. She is also survived by a half brother, Michael Dunion, of California .

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Keith Russler, in 1999, and a sister, Debora Wirrick.

Vi was an Avon district sales manager, retiring in 2000, with 26 years of service.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown, where she served as an usher and on the alter guild. She was also very involved in local elections and the local Red Cross.

After retiring from Avon, Vi and her husband, Marlin, became very active in Harleys and long-distance trips. They traveled cross country several times with their State College HOG Chapter.

Per her request, services will be private and for family only.
