Tell the truth about ‘defunding the police’

To the editor:

Boy, oh, boy, Mr. Fisher, what a load of hooey! Please explain why the Democratic mayor of Democrat Chicago is asking for federal help for her police department. Is this a fact or not? According to you, she and Chicago are fine and have the numbers wrong. You better give her a call and straighten that out!

Please don’t try and backpedal on defunding the police. Some liberals want to abolish the police as it now exists. Your statement is as bad as some Democrats stating it is the Republicans who called for defunding the police. They ought to be in Las Vegas doing a stand-up routine. Here is what one of your leaders said:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, June 2020: “Defunding police means defunding police. It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so the exact same police remain in schools.”

The $27 million paid to the Floyd family was incentive to the lawless to commit crime! It was affirmation that crime pays. If money cannot console for grief, let the family give the pittance back. It’s not like they lost a bread winner! He was a criminal who took advantage of other people. He held a gun to the belly of a pregnant woman. Model citizen.

You don’t have a leg to stand on, Mr. Fisher, and you won’t admit it. You have no, repeat no, base to condemn police. Reading stories about police or hearing stories is no basis for anything except repeating the information. Go out and fight a guy who just beat his girlfriend. Protect her and put the bad guy in handcuffs. Jump right in there when he is twice your size and just came home from combat in some war. See how easy it is when you say “on you knees, put your hands behind your back.” When he won’t comply and comes after you, what then? See how easy that is? You know nothing! You proposing to fact check the police is like a novice pilot giving advice to the Space Station.

We ask men and women in blue to do it all, to cover every situation thrown at them, to put their lives on the line, for a paycheck and benefits. They do it willingly and proudly. But you feel compelled to condemn them and right their wrongs from your La-Z-Boy. That sir, is pathetic!

Improvements to policing is always needed as it is in any endeavor. Police train all the time. If it is not fast enough for you write to your congressman! That is the way it works.

Don’t believe 100% what you see on CNN, Fox or read in the paper. They all lie and you and others I have responded to believe everything put in front of you except what makes common sense.
