Vote for GOP to preserve American way of life

To the editor:

I submitted a letter to the editor on Sept. 22, 2011. In that letter I explained that in the middle 1950s our Methodist minister in Belleville stated in his sermon that the ongoing communist plan to bring down the United States and other free countries was a great threat to our every day way of life and our freedom.

According to Rev. Jones, the plan began at the end of World War II. During that war, it was believed by the public that many of our government representatives were Communist or Communist Sympathizers and those representatives thought our “great country the United States of America” would be better off under a communist plan or at the least some form of socialism. Their plan was diabolical in the fact that it would infiltrate into the beliefs of our citizens and especially the young generation attending our colleges and universities and turn them toward communist ideology.

This “filter down theory” was meant to indoctrinate (teach a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically) going down to the youngest of our children in public schools despite the beliefs of their parents. The plan being to break up family beliefs and make the government everyone’s “nanny.” He theorized that in order to accomplish this goal, Christianity had to be marginalized.

Rev. Jones warned that a growing central government with all citizens receiving some sort of a benefit would make us dependent on the central government and eventually our nation would become a third world sectarian, communist nation. He even stated that the communist plan would require disarming our citizens to avoid any “real” opposition to their plan. The reverend also stated “Don’t think this cannot happen, after all, communists during the Roosevelt administration gave the plans for the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union.”

After the sermon, my fellow worshipers and I discussed what the reverend said. We really thought he had lost his senses. After all we had even added “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954. What we did not realize was the fact that the communist movement was already well underway. The anti-freedom ideology had begun before our first progressive president Theodore Roosevelt and continued through socialist-leaning presidents. Woodrow Wilson, Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt.

By the late ’50s the government was using its financial power to impose new rules on the states which filtered to local school systems. That was the birth of the “anti-Americans” which was a group of what we referred to as “Hippies.” They were made of the rich and the poor and they despised and protested everything except the free benefits that they received from the government. This generation educated in the ’60s is now the generation in charge of “Our Nation Under God.”

My message today: The underlying socialist/communist theory is seemingly overpowering our nation under God. For instance, our famous sports players will not stand in silence, remove their hat, put their hand on their heart during our national anthem … instead they take a knee.

Why are our school children no longer saying “The Pledge of Allegiance”? What is becoming of our great nation I ask?

My wife and I raised our grandson during the ’80s and ’90s and we were amazed at the distorted history being taught in our schools. During the past year, the socialist (and I believe the communist) movement has forced our government officials to adhere to allowing our historic monuments to be torn to the ground. The history of The United States Of America will no longer be taught to our children … they will never know of our Founding Fathers. The Founding Fathers fought for independence from Britain and penned a series of influential governing documents that steer the country to this day. Our children will no longer be able to read The Declaration of Independence or hear the National Anthem if this behavior is allowed to continue.

I urge my fellow citizens to stand up for America and vote Republican Nov. 3, 2020. Please prevent the liberal mindset from taking over our government and changing our way of life into something that we as a people cannot accept.
