The sin of holding a bible in the air

To the editor:

So now holding a bible aloft makes one a liar. I would find favor with doing that instead of those who would, in front of thousands of fans, kneel in scorn of the flag and anthem.

Mr. Rhodes, the whole of your hateful condemnation of President Trump is a perfect example of mixing religion and politics. Or do you not see in yourself the hypocrisy?

I am not certain how Trump’s mind works or how he might communicate with his God — that is between him and his creator. But I do know he voices the argument for the protection of the churches and their parishioner’s right to hold and attend services — a constitutional right, by the way.

Mr. Trump does not hold up a bible or express his faith one day and the next argue in support of abortion, the murder of the unborn. That status you should clearly understand is what the democrat presumptive candidates, president and vice-president, have continually done openly.

On the other hand Joe Biden (and many other faux Catholics) is the one that you should be calling a lying hypocrite for it is he who ignores the tenets of his own faith, which like your own is Roman Catholic. He has actually been denied communion by a priest because of his advocacy of abortion. Not just the advocacy but the fact that he would take communion knowing full well the next day he would be in support of abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood. Might I assume he may well be in commission of a mortal sin?

The founders each and every day at the beginning of discussions offered to God their prayers. Were they hypocrites for mixing politic with faith? I remember as a child seeing a picture of one of the founders while saying prayers before the deliberations holding in the air for all to see — a bible. Might he have had sin in his heart. I doubt it but if he did that is between him and our Father in Heaven; not you or anyone else who somehow believe they have the right to judge his faith.

There is no such thing in the constitution listing the absurdity of “separation of church and state” but that is a popular mantra of those whose intent is to create a denial of the right of people to practice their faith in any manner. The constitution though does give each and everyone of us the right of religious expression, which is exactly what President Trump did. I would suggest holding a bible in front of a church or even on the front steps of a courthouse is a guaranteed right.

By the way Mr. Rhodes, when I refer to God I use the correct application: He, Him, His instead of the lower case he, him and his.
