Those assisting Potato Drop are working for Jesus

To the editor:

Wow! Amazing! Thank you!

These are the first words that come to mind as I reflect on the 2019 Potato Drop that happened on Sept. 28.

It was amazing to see 20,000 pounds of potatoes being unloaded at 6 a.m. and 50-plus volunteers sort and rebag them to be distributed. It was an awesome experience for everyone. Just think of the thousands of meals being served to people in our area counties, free of charge.

Thanks to the many individuals who helped make this possible.

Thank you to Church Hill United Methodist Church for hosting the event and to all the United Methodist Churches of Mifflin County who made a financial contribution toward the delivery costs.

Thank you to Penn Equipment for providing a forklift that saved a lot of lifting and sore backs.

And finally, thank you to all who came and received these potatoes. I hope you are able to enjoy nourishment from them. Each of you who volunteered are the hands and feet of Jesus as you work to serve others in his name.
