America needs to wake up to sin that is abortion
To the editor:
Roe v. Wade passed in 1973 with barely a whimper of protest from the silent majority and first trimester abortion became the law of the land. There was no need to prove rape or incest or risk to the mother; just ask and it shall be done. This was under the guise of a woman’s right to choose what happens to her body. I believe that right ends when she conceives; now she is deciding for herself and her unborn baby!
From this point we quickly moved to second trimester abortion and the focus shifted to include sex choice, birth defect issues, etc., all vanity issues — any excuse at all. We have now aborted more babies than soldiers killed in all our wars; and still we are essentially silent!
Now the horror of infanticide is upon us in the form of third trimester abortions, killing babies who could survive outside the womb; even including those about to be delivered! These are human lives we are talking about, not day-old coffee grounds!
How many great minds have we sacrificed on the altar of expediency? How many cures for cancer, diabetes, HIV, Alzheimer’s, etc. have been dumped into the human waste disposal?
The time has come for the long silent majority to become loud and vocal about this national disgrace. Consider the dichotomy: If a woman delivers a baby, on her own, and leaves it to die, she can be charged with manslaughter. But a doctor (who has taken the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm) can abort that same baby, not be charged with a crime and get paid for doing it!
We are told in Genesis 1:27-31 that God created man and woman and said “Be fruitful and multiply … And God said it was very good.”
In Jeremiah 1:5 and in Psalms 139:13-14, we read “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. … You are fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Wake up, America, we are sinning against God and we will pay a horrible price for that sin.
