Annual bike giveaway is not possible without help

To the editor:

Patriot Riders Chapter 53 of ABATE hosted an annual bike give away at the Mifflin County Youth Park on June 8. The focus of the day was bike/motorcycle safety. This is the third year for the event and it was a huge success.

We would like to thank the community, area businesses, ABATE chapters, local law enforcement, fire companies, churches and all the volunteers that helped to make the day great fun for every one that attended. Without the support and commitment of everyone involved, we would not have been able to give away 331 bikes this year to the local youth of Mifflin County.

A special shoutout to the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4294 of Burnham and to Chris White who donated the bounce houses for the day. Without their support of our yearly event it would not be possible to reach so many kids and keep increasing our number of bikes every year.

Kids could enter to win a free bike with helmets included for those younger than 12 and participate in multiple other activities including signing a pledge to never text and drive. Each child was given a free ice cream cone and had the opportunity to receive other trinkets form community groups that were present.

The support we received for this event was so amazing and we are truly grateful to everyone who participated. Investing in the area youth is very important to us and we thank you for it being important to you, too.
