Model Railroad Club announces open house

To the editor:

The annual Christmas open house for the Mifflin County Model Railroad Club will again start with the opening of the Festival of Ice from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29.

The club’s layout is in the basement of the old Montgomery Ward building located on Monument Square next to the old courthouse in downtown Lewistown. The open house will continue from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30; from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1; from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 and the following weekends: Dec. 8-9, Dec. 15-16 and Dec. 29-30 (Thomas and Friends). Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday hours are 1 to 4 p.m. All are invited and welcome. This is our only fundraiser and donations are accepted to help offset our yearly $5,000 cost of rent and insurance.

The club is always looking for new members. Currently, we have only 12 members trying to keep the layout running and the club solvent. We meet at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday at our layout’s location on Monument Square in Lewistown.

We would like to thank our corporate sponsors whose financial support helps keep the doors open. They are First National Bank, Juniata Valley Bank, Kish Bank, Calkins, Lake’s, Frey’s, Noerr’s local car dealerships, Knepp’s Barber Shop and Lerch RV.

Anyone wanting to help sponsor this local holiday tradition, please send us your info at MCRR Club, 3 W. Monument Square lower level, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Hope to see you there!
