Thank you for making community day great

To the editor:

Another great community event was held last month in Reedsville as the streets were filled and great conversations were held throughout our town on Reedsville Community Day. Many folks cleared out their closets and held successful yard sales on both Friday and Saturday. It’s great fun to walk around town and reconnect with our friends and neighbors during the town-wide yard sales.

Our day begins with the Evangelical Lutheran Church members Breakfast in the Park, and our thanks go out to all the great short order cooks that served up a good meal to start off our event.

Both young and old participated in the annual pickle and pie eating contests sponsored by Toots’ Place and Bel-Vue Inn. Former Little Miss Reedsvilles and participants, along with Natalie Shawley, Miss Young White Rose City, in this year’s contest helped serve the giant ice cream sundae with ice cream from Steve at the Dairy Queen. Thank you!

Thanks to many area businesses for support for our Little Miss Reedsville prizes and advertising including Hostetler Truck Bodies & Trailers, Paul A. Kline Insurance, Gib’s Service Center, East Gate Feed & Grain, Professional Opticians, Lewistown Cabinet Center, Inc, Bohn Furniture, Kathyrn and Company Florist, Juniata Valley Bank, Wilson’s Gifts & Jewelry, Brown Township Supervisors and staff, Rescue Our Furry Friends, judges Vince Mannino, Connie Smith and Natalie Shawley; emcee from WCHX and Star Country radio stations Chris Kramer; and our coordinator for Little Miss Reedsville, Cindy Bratton.

Our event is held annually on the second Saturday in June. We hope to see you next year.
