Today’s election – it’s not just for Republicans and Democrats!

Calling all registered voters (yes, even you independents and members of “minor” political parties)! Today, not only is it Pennsylvania’s primary election day (which is open only to Republicans and Democrats), it’s also a special congressional election — one in which every registered voter may participate.

That means there’s no good excuse for you to fail to find the time during the 13 hours the polls are open today (7 a.m. until 8 p.m.) to stop by and cast your vote.

For those who are able to vote in the primaries, you’ll not only be voting for a new congressman, you’ll also be nominating people for your local borough council or board of township supervisors, but county commissioners, school board, magisterial district judge, state judge and county row offices like coroner, auditor, register and recorder and more.

And again, in an election in which any registered voter may participate, we are choosing who will finish the remainder of Tom Marino’s term in Congress — not just nominating, but actually electing someone who will go right to Washington very soon after results are certified.

As we always ask of you every election day, please don’t waste an opportunity to not only cast your vote, but hold our elected officials accountable in the only way we truly can — with our support at the ballot box.

Get out and vote. You’ll be glad you did.
