Douglas C. Sheetz

Born Dec. 14, 1962, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late James C. and Sally A. (Huffnagle) Sheetz.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer C. Johnson and husband, Zacharri, of Lewistown, Alexandra L. Bernot and husband, Raymond, of Virginia, Reagan A. Sheetz, Morgan A. Sheetz, and Kyler D. Sheetz, and their mother, all of Reedsville; six grandchildren; siblings, Daniel J. Sheetz and wife, Beth A., of Lewistown, Cheryl A. Bossinger and husband, Jeffrey, of Reedsville, William S. Sheetz, of Lewistown, and Debra K. Bickhart and husband, Michael, of Reedsville; as well as a companion from Burnham.

Douglas was a graduate of the Kishacoquillas High School class of 1981.

He was a member of Kish Valley Grace Breth- ren Church. He was also a member of the Blue Juniata Beagle Club.

Douglas was employed at Standard Steel since 2010. Prior to that he worked at Nittany Building Specialties. He was Chief of the Reedsville Fire Department.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Douglas especially loved the art of fly fishing. A devoted supporter of both the Phillies and the Patriots, Douglas was also passionate about Penn State Wrestling.

He was deeply involved in the local wrestling community, having coached Indian Valley Wrestling and served as a PIAA Wrestling referee. Douglas also founded the elementary wrestling program at the Juniata Valley YMCA, fostering a love for the sport in countless young athletes.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at noon with Pastor Luke Shinskie officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
