Lenora J. Unruh
Lenora J. Unruh, 92, of 638 Bunker Hill Road, Belleville, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at her home.
She was born on June 1, 1931 in Montezuma, Kan., to Abe H. and Erma (Jantz) Koehn, who preceded her in death. On July 15, 1951, she married Alpha Unruh Jr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2000.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Unruh; a granddaughter, Anna Unruh; two sisters, Delilah Dirks and Lucille Koehn, and a brother Elton Koehn.
Surviving are children: Janelle Peachey and husband Amos of Belleville, Pa., Karl Unruh and wife Joycelyn of Bloomfield, Iowa, Andy Unruh of Fort Sumner, N.M.; 17 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Pearl Ensz from Montezuma, Kan., Karen Wickey and husband Ezra from Fountain Run, Ky., Lynn Koehn and Gayla from Hartley, Texas, Terry Koehn and Deb of Imperial, Neb.; daughter-in-law Peggy Unruh of Peabody, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Bernice Koehn of Copeland, Kan., and Darlene Esau and husband Bob from Atwater, Calif., and Catherine Troyer, Moundridge, Kan.
She attended Montezuma Grade School in Montezuma, Kan., and was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Rock Haven Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Belleville.
She enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandchildren and friends. She and her husband spent some time in Humanitarian Service in New York City and also New Mexico.
Her viewing will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. at Rock Haven Church of God in Christ Mennonite, 146 Peachey Road, Belleville, Pa. There will be a second viewing held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kan. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at Burns Church, Burns, Kan., with the burial following at Eden Cemetery.
