Paula Fern (Dunn) Harling

She was born Oct. 11, 1947, in Mifflintown.

She is survived by one son, Terry W. Harling and wife, Susan, of Mifflintown, four siblings, Betty J. “Liz” Kline, Irvin Dunn and wife, Mary Jane, Thelma “Ann” Rowles, and Linda K. Graybill and husband, Wilbur, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Walter H. “Butch” Harling, whom she married Feb. 3, 1963, died on Feb. 27, 2012. She was also preceded in death by one son, Craig Harling and his wife, Emma, her parents, Warren L. “Barney” and Hattie (Mingle) Dunn, and one brother, Donald Dunn.

She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1965.

Fern was an aide at Locust Grove Retirement Village for 30 years and then worked as personal caregiver.

She was a member of Mifflin Fire Co. and American Legion Post No. 298, Mifflintown.

She enjoyed playing bingo, going to Hollywood Casino to play penny slot machines, and especially spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Jen Heikes officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
