Larry Richard Baker
Larry Richard Baker, 82, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at his sister’s home in Carnegie.
Born July 24, 1941, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Richard Mark and Minerva H. (Hulet) Baker.
Larry is survived by: sons, Mark E. Baker and wife, Peggy, of Dover, Pa., and Andrew T. Baker and wife, Michelle, of Burnham; eight grandchildren, Cody, Becky, Jake, Chance, Emily, Seth, Julia, and Jackson Baker; great-granddaughter, Delilah; and sisters, Harriet Sunday and husband, Jim, of Furlong, and Debbie Ricketts, of Carnegie.
He was a high school graduate and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Keppler during the Cuban Missile Crisis of Oct. 1962. The U.S.S. Keppler monitored and blocked Russian ships and submarines from approaching Cuba and the United States.
Early in life, Larry was employed by IBM. He retired from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission as a Waterways Conservation Officer.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman and passionate about the environment.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with private interment at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
