Floyd A. Kurtz

Floyd A. Kurtz, 85, of 7 West Gap Lane, Allensville, passed away at 9:12 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. He was born February 8, 1937, in Altoona, a son of the late Albert and Phyllis (Mallory) Kurtz. His wife, Loretta, who he married in 1955, survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Floyd is survived by: children, Cheryl Parker, of McClure, Teresa Haubrick and husband, David, of Lewistown, Tammy Hoy and husband, John, of Lock Haven, Thomas Kurtz and wife, Jannelle, of Strodes Mills, Karen Kurtz Raco and husband, Troy, of New Jersey, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by siblings: David Kurtz and wife, Linda, of Belleville, Janet Cleveland of Oregon, and Carole Hamerin of Oregon.

Floyd was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Pennepacker, grandson, Curtis LaChappel, and brother, Bill Kurtz.

He was employed by New Holland as an inspector for 30 years. He was also a gunsmith and enjoyed fixing guns. He loved restoring old tractors and raising his own beef on the farmette that he and his wife owned.

Floyd and his wife took many hunting trips throughout the United States, including a special trip to Newfoundland to hunt moose.

He was a member of Allensville Community Church, where he served as an Elder for many years. He was also a member of the NRA.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Allensville Community Church, with Pastor Tyler Covert officiating.

Burial will take place at Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery following the service.

His family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Jan. 28, 2023, at the church.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville.
