Virginia Anita Long

Virginia Anita Long, 87, of Middletown, formerly of Lewistown, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 14, 2021, at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. She was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Middletown, to the late Lawrence L. Witters Sr. and Helen E. (Hipple) Witters. She was predeceased by her loving husband, C. Roy Long Jr., in 2013.

Virginia was a past Worthy Matron and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lewistown. She enjoyed keeping her hands busy and mind active by knitting, crocheting, reading and doing puzzles. Virginia’s home was filled with the smells of freshly baked goods, and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren. She really enjoyed trips to Cass, W.Va., and the beauty of the land.

She is survived by five children, Robin Maynes (Shawn), Roger Calhoon (Yvonne), Jeffrey Calhoon, Diane Long (Niles), and Roy Long (Erin); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Baker and Marie Burke. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Witters Jr. and Philip Witters.
