Louis R. Hurst

Louis R. Hurst, 67, of Milroy, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at his home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was a son of the late Earl C. and Burnadean (Dayton) Hurst.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; siblings, Kenny Hurst, John ‘Slugger’ Hurst, Shirley Ann Jankiewicz, and Floyd ‘Little Sister’ Hurst.

He is survived by; wife, Darla Jean (Cowan) Hurst, of Milroy, whom he shared 49 years of marriage; children, Louis P. Hurst and wife, Stephanie, of North Carolina, John L. Hurst and wife, Diana, of South Carolina, Earl J. Hurst Sr., of Maryland and Samantha J.H. McCarroll and husband, Samuel, of Maryland; seventeen grandchildren, Brittany, Jaclyn, James, Seth, Julie, Hayden, Logan, Max, Lannie, Alex, Jaxi Jo, Andrew, E.J., Aaron, Jayden, Zach and Dayton; four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Kaden, Jett, and Paisley; siblings, Jack Hurst and wife, Gloria, of Florida, Albert Hurst and wife, Brenda, of Delaware, James Hurst and wife, Cindy, of Maryland, Janet Vargo, of Florida, and Nancy Hurst, of Baltimore.

Louis was a 1971 graduate of Overlea High School, in Baltimore, MD. He attended the community college where he attained his associate degree in accounting.

He was a Southern Baptist by faith.

Earlier in life, he worked for Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD, then went on to become a truck driver for Coca Cola and Kraft and later a CDL Instructor.

Louis had a love for trucker music and classic country music. He loved to fish, and spend quality time with his wife and daughter, Samantha doing woodworking projects. He was highly creative and artistic with drywall designs, as well as a very skilled carpenter. He enjoyed researching family history genealogy and writing books on it.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
