William B. Long
William B. (Bill) Long, 95, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2020.
Born on Oct. 16, 1924, in Lewistown, Bill was the son of C. Roy Long and Margaret (Smith) Long. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and the Air Force Reserves during the Korean Conflict.
He retired as Aircraft Inspector Foreman in Quality Control at the former New Cumberland Army Depot and was a licensed airplane pilot and mechanic for the Federal Aviation Administration. He enjoyed all forms of mechanical work around the house and maintained a lifelong enthusiasm for all types of aircraft. He also enjoyed listening to his music and sharing it with family and friends. Favorites were marches by John Philip Sousa.
Bill was the widower of Betty (Troutman) Long, who died in 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Kenneth) Zrncic of Mechanicsburg; his sister, Beverly (John) Batcheler of Lafayette Hill; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy, and one sister, Jean Perkis.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg, for their care and concern during his stay.
