D. Lucy Bishop

D. Lucy Bishop, 86, of Lewistown, passed away at 12:05 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township.

Born Dec. 30, 1933, in Ewardtown, she was the thirteenth child of the late Frank and Charlotte (Wilson) Eward.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, James W. Bishop, in 1992; brothers, Earl, James, Marshall, Newt, Glen and Don Eward; and sisters, Daisy Smith, Dorothy Marks, Martha Gregg and Mabel Fultz.

Lucy was the mother of Linda Campbell, of McClure, and Brenda Bishop, of Lewistown. Also surviving are: grandchildren, Jamie, Jessie and John; great-grandchildren, Colin and Cameron; sisters, Ruth Kauffman, Betty Bishop and Marie Kline; and her brother, Bob Eward.

She graduated from Derry High School, Class of 1952.

She was a member of Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church.

Lucy enjoyed family picnics, traveling with her husband and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her outstanding raisin-filled cookies and ham and bean pot pie.

A private graveside service and interment will be held at Samuel’s Cemetery, McClure, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.

Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, is in charge of arrangements.
