Carson H. Ocker

Carson H. Ocker, 102, of Beaver Springs, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 3, 1917, in Middleburg, a son of the late Homer David and Mary Jane (Reich) Ocker. On Dec. 16, 1939 he married Miriam E. (Fleming) Ocker who preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2000.

As a young man Mr. Ocker worked with his father cutting down trees and hauling them to the sawmill. He later was employed by WPA where he worked shoveling snow from the highways by hand and helped to build many of the local roads. He also worked driving truck for Narehood Stone Quarry in Danville, the shipping department at Chef BoyArdee in Milton, and he owned and operated a garage in Vicksburg. He later worked driving truck and operating machinery digging out cellars for new construction and building ponds for Rudy Ewing.

He volunteered many hours at Five Barley Loaves Food Pantry in Western Snyder County, which his wife and daughter helped establish.

Carson loved the Lord. He read his Bible through many times. His day began with prayer and studying the Word. He was a good Christian man, teaching his children by example. He was a member of the Bannerville Church of the Brethren, where he served on various committees, was a Sunday school teacher and was appointed life deacon. His word and his handshake were his bond.

He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, his friends and family. He especially loved time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are: two daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Joseph Feehrer Sr. and Kathryn Koller, all of McClure; grandchildren, Joseph Feehrer Jr. and wife, Leslie, Lori Feehrer Everhart and husband, Tim, Cristin Kwiterovich and husband, Matthew, Angela Keiser and companion, Mitchal Roller, Cyndi Klingler and husband, Drew, Jenny Paige and husband, Nathan, and K.C. Keiser; great-grandchildren, Jerett Feehrer and wife, Jaime, Lindsey Shultz and husband, Darren, Janell Weaver and husband, Aaron, Brandi Bobb and husband, Kevin Dressler, Katelyn Kwiterovich, Zakary, Logan, and Kenzie Keiser, Alayna Roller, Dylan, Jacob and Gabriel Klingler, Christopher and Jonathon Koller, Anthony, Emily and Christian Paige; great-great-grandchildren, Rylan, Cullen, Maggie, Weston, Aleah, Niko, Jaqlyn; and also a large extended family.

He was preceded in death in addition to his wife by one daughter, Barbara G. Ocker; one great-grandchild, Raeya Keiser; one son-in-law, Robert Koller; one brother, Bob Ocker; four sisters, Dorothy Hackenburg, Belva Fleming, Sara Gross and Evelyn Hoover.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Faith Baptist Church in Beaver Springs with Rev. Dr. E. Denton Mallonee officiating.

Burial will follow in Adamsburg Cemetery.
