Betty M. Walters
Betty M. Walters, 90, of Mifflintown, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born July 29, 1929 in Denholm, she was a daughter of the late David and Alda (Irvin) Ricewick. Her husband, Blaine S. Walters, whom she married Aug. 26, 1947, died Dec. 8, 2001.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Walters, of Mifflin; two grandsons, David Wetzler, and wife, Tammi, and Jeffrey Mapes, and one great-grandson, Gavin Mapes.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Steven B. Walters and two brothers, Lawrence “Jim” Smith and David Ricewick.
Betty graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1947 and worked as a seamstress at Scotties Fashions, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin.
She enjoyed sewing reading walking, tending to her flower beds and was a fantastic baker. She especially enjoyed being with her family.
Her funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Dan Kerlin, officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be a viewing from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
