Larry was a graduate of Derry Township High School, Class of 1949, and was a 1954 graduate of Penn State University.

He served in the United States Army.

Larry was a lifelong member of the Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Yeagertown.

He was employed at Standard Steel, retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service.

Larry was an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping in the streams and woodlands. He enjoyed archery hunting and especially loved the time he spent with his favorite hunting buddies at the McGuffy’s Raiders hunting camp in Penns Valley.

He always loved to read and write. After retiring, that love led him to become a freelance writer for a number of state and national magazines. He was especially excited to be published more than once in Pennsylvania Game News. Later, he published two books, “Another Time, Another Place” and “Turkey Hunting, Then and Now.”

His greatest love was his wife and family. He was the leader of many family hikes and excursions and for over 30 years he took them all on a two week family vacation to Sunset Beach, N.C., where they made memories to last a lifetime. He shared his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren, for which they will be eternally grateful.
