Catherine ‘Cathy’ Phillips

Catherine “Cathy” Phillips, 79, of Burnham, formerly of Walnut, entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.

Born Feb. 2, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Harry T. and Ruth E. (Whitesel) Sheaffer. Her husband, Donald Albert “Duck” Phillips, whom she married on April 21, 1963, died Aug. 21, 2014.

She is survived by one son, Albert Lee Phillips and fiance, Wendy Cunningham, of Burnham; one daughter, Deborah Lou Myers and husband, Douglas, of Shirleysburg; one brother, Harold D. Sheaffer, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, George T. Sheaffer, James D. Sheaffer, Harry L. Sheaffer, Samuel Sheaffer Whitesel and Glenn A. Sheaffer and one sister, Marion L. Whistler.

She was a home health aide for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, playing pinochle, and taking care of her family.

Her memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor John Walters officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
