Leon E. Groff

Leon E. Groff, 87, formerly of McVeytown, went to be with the Lord at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at Valley View Haven in Belleville.

Born March 5, 1931, in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Roy R. and Ella E. (Eversole) Groff. His wife, Amy A. (Knauer) Groff, whom he married March 11, 1951, survives.

Also surviving are: eight children, Joyce D. Weaver and husband, John, of McVeytown, Linda K. Martin and husband, Jay, of Dublin, Ga., Joanne L. Yoder and husband, Lee, of Lewistown, Carol S. Peachey and husband, Ray, Roy G. Groff and wife, Agnes, Ruth E. Mejia and husband, Anibal, Charles L. Groff and wife, Arlene, all of McVeytown, Timothy R. Groff and wife, Lydia, of Midville, Ga.; a brother, Paul Groff and wife, Bernice, of Lititz; a sister, Ada Miller and husband, Warren, of Lititz; 63 grandchildren; and 110 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Employed as a farmer for many years, Leon was a member of the Strodes Mills Mennonite Church. He enjoyed singing and being with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at the Living Springs Mennonite Church, 500 Ridge Road, McVeytown, with Ministers Sheldon Yoder, Andrew Freed, Steve Groff, Timothy Groff and Roy Groff officiating. Interment will be in Strodes Mills Mennonite Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at the Living Springs Mennonite Church.
