Kenneth L. Cox

Kenneth L. Cox, 89, of 393 Cedar St., Kistler, Mount Union, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

He was born on June 7, 1929, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, the son of the late Charles and Stella (Rorer) Cox Horn and late stepfather Samuel Horn Sr.

His wife, Edna (Covert) Cox, whom he married on Jan. 22, 1949, preceded him in death on May 30, 1997.

He is survived by his children Gloria Morningstar and husband, Curtis, of Todd, David Cox and wife, Peggy, of Mount Union, and Kenneth Cox and wife, Melissa, of Mount Union.

There are nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren surviving, along with a brother: Samuel D. Horn Jr., of Mill Creek.

A daughter, Barbara Cox, preceded him in death on July 2, 1973. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Phyllis Hiteshew; and a brother: Robert Cox.

He was a graduate of Mount Union High School, Class of 1947.

Mr. Cox retired in 1991 from Marlette Homes, Lewistown, with 23 years of service. Prior to this employment, he had also worked at Hometaste Bakery and North American Refractories, both of Mount Union.

He loved spending time with his family. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Adam Shawver officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg.

Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15; and at 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
