Roy E. Hoffman

Roy Edward Hoffman, 85, of Richfield, entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Loretta M. (Fisher) Hoffman, who survives. The couple were married for 62 years at the time of his passing. Roy was born at home in Leister Valley near Cocolamus, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Ruth (Strawser) Hoffman.

He was a 1952 graduate of Fayette High School. Roy was employed for four years at Roush Motor Company, McAlisterville. After he married Loretta they purchased a farm in Lauver Valley and went into the poultry business. In 1967 the couple sold the farm and purchased the Evendale Store, which they operated for 13 and a half years. After the store was sold, the couple went back into poultry and crop farming.

Roy was a member of the Richfield United Methodist Church and the Richfield Ambulance Company.

He loved going out to eat, reading the newspaper and loved riding his tractors. Roy loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his two children and their spouses: Rodney and Judy Hoffman of Cocolamus and Audrey and Mike Conrad of Millerstown; six grandchildren and their spouses: Danielle and Floyd Ciccolini Jr., Bobbie and Amos Kerstetter, Brandon Hoffman, Billie and Vaughn Ross, Bryan and Lindsay Hoffman, and Matt and Kara Conrad; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Nina Kay and Samuel Graybill Jr. of Richfield, 2 sisters-in-law, Clarice Kerstetter of Richfield and Mildred Messimer of Millerstown; and nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by a great-grandson Otto Conrad, a brother and sister-in-law, Park and Thelma Hoffman, a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Harry Vandergrift; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, David Kerstetter, Jim Messimer, and Richard and Janet Fisher.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Rt. 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Brown. Burial will be in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown. Memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Roy to the Richfield United Methodist Church, P.O.
