Born on June 25, 1924, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Mayme (Musser) Barger.

In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Haller, on June 15, 1968, and a daughter, Cathy H. Shore, in 1992.

She is survived by: her children, Linda H. Britt and husband, Paul E., of Fredericksburg, Va., and Elaine H. Foster Eskin and husband, David, of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Marian was a middle school English teacher for the Mifflin County School District for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lewistown, member of Kappa Delta Teachers Sorority, AAUW and past president, and a member and volunteer for the Mifflin County Library Association.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Richard Bender officiating.

A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
