Church to host

September services

McALISTERVILLE — Stony Run Mission, 2825 Evendale Hill Road, McAlisterville, will host the following services:

¯Sept. 19 — Hymn sing at Neimond’s Picnic Grove at 6 p.m.

¯Sept. 20 — Jason Vonneida will share at 6 p.m.

¯Sept. 27 — No services at church. 10th annual Riding on Faith Tractor service will be held at 10 a.m. Lunch will follow at 11L30 a.m. and the tractor ride will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Hot dogs and soup are provided for lunch. Please bring lawn chairs and a dessert and drink to share. Rain date is Oct. 4.

Schrader UMC to host special speakers

REEDSVILLE — Schrader United Methodist Church will host the following special speakers at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning services through September:

Heartbeat Services to host fundraiser

MILLERSTOWN — Heartbeat Community Services Inc., in conjunction with the Millerstown Hill Yard Sale will hold a fundraiser event on from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at 402 East Sunbury St., Millerstown. Sandwiches, hoagies, and numerous delicious baked goods will be sold.

First Baptist to host Rally Day

MIFFLINTOWN — First Baptist Church, state Route 35, one mile north of Mifflintown, will host Rally Day concerts featuring Jeremy Goodling during 8 and 10:30 a.m. services on Sept. 27

Jeremy has been singing for the Lord for over 25 years. When not traveling, he enjoys going to church with his family at Niemond’s Independent Church in Richfield.

Church to host free movie night

MIFFLINTOWN — First Baptist Church – Family Ministry Center, Route 35, will host a free family movie/meal night at 5 p.m. Sept. 20. The meal begins at 5 p.m. and includes: Meatball subs, chips, dessert and beverages. The movie “Overcomer” will follow the meal. Dress casual and bring a lawn chair, if you desire. Everyone is welcome.

‘Defender’ to offer testimony

MIFFLINTOWN — First Baptist Church of Juniata County, one mile north of Mifflintown on Route 35, will offer a special outreach service at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

Attendees will be able to hear testimony by Stephen Willeford, “Barefoot Defender.”

The service is recommended for adults and older teens, but not for children.

First Baptist to host Bible conference

MIFFLINTOWN — First Baptist Church, state Route 35, Mifflintown, will hold a Bible Prophecy/Mission Conference. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 and 8 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.

The featured speaker is Tom Simcox. The Rev. Thomas Simcox is the Northeastern States director for The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. He has been with the Mission since 1979 and joined the field staff in 1987.

In addition to evangelizing, conducting outreaches, and teaching Bible studies, Tom is responsible for overseeing the ministry from Maine to Maryland.

Stony Run to host special services

McALISTERVILLE — Stony Run Mission, 2825 Evendale Hill Road, McAlisterville, will host the following special services:

¯Oct. 11 — Richard Kiser will share at 6 p.m.

¯Oct. 18 — Lebanon Valley Gospel Band will perform at 2:30 p.m. There will be no evening service.

¯Oct. 25 — Keith Plott will share at 6 p.m.

¯Nov. 15-18 — Revival services will be held with Billy Huddleston. Sunday services will be at 9:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Services will be at 7 p.m.

¯Nov. 22 — Chosen Road will share at 10:15 a.m.

¯Nov. 29 — Jeremy Goodling will share at 6 p.m.

¯Dec. 6 — Downin Lane will share in a Christmas concert at 6 p.m.

¯Dec. 13 — A Christmas program will be held at 9:15 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Bunkertown Brethren to host quartet

McALISTERVILLE — Bunkertown Brethren Church will host the Tribute Quartet at 7 p.m. Oct. 16. The concert will kick off the church’s fall revival services.

On Oct. 18, Evangelist Howard Russel will share a message and music. There will be a special children’s program on Sunday morning.

A fellowship will follow the morning service.

Special music will be provided by Price Peachy and We the Prodigals at 6 p.m.

Date set for

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata Valley International Gifts Sale will be held at Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown, Nov. 20 and 21.

The sale will feature unique fair trade gifts from around the world. Those interested can become a part of the fair trade story and invest in their world.

LEWISTOWN — The Sentinel invites area religious leaders to submit columns for “Professions of Faith” in the Sentinel’s weekly religion section.
