Abortion survivor to share her story at Crossroads banquet

BELLEVILLE — An abortion survivor will be the keynote speaker at Crossroads Pregnancy Center’s Annual Fundraising Banquet.

Pro-Life Advocate Gianna Jessen will share her story of unspeakable challenges, which have led her to become an inspiration to others.

The banquet will be held Oct. 29, with her speech at 7 p.m. at Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville. This year’s banquet theme is “Built for a Purpose.”

The banquet begins with a luncheon, with doors opening at 11 a.m. and lunch served at 11:30 a.m. Dinner will follow, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and dinner served at 6 p.m.

According to Crossroads Executive Director Cindy Mansberger the banquet is held each year to help the nonprofit agency raise money for meet the needs of clients.

Jessen was chosen to speak this year because “she has a real powerful story,” said Mansberger. “She’s an inspiration. She survived an abortion and has grown to become quite the woman of God.”

There is no cost to attend the banquet, but reservations are required by Oct. 21 and can be made online at www.cpcforlife.org or by calling (717) 242-0301 or (814) 643-3570. Organizers ask that only adults attend the banquet. Seating is limited.

Crossroads Pregnancy Center provides Christ-centered counseling and educational services with regard to abortion alternatives, pregnancy, post-abortion healing, parenting and sexual integrity — empowering individual to make choices that cherish every human life.

Crossroads has a medical clinic in Lewistown and Huntingdon where it offers free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasound and STD testing and treatment.

The center also offers abortion recovery Bible studies; Reaching Destinations, a sexual risk avoidance program; a Sexual Integrity Program; a Bridges Program, which allows participants the opportunity to earn baby-preparedness items while they learn; Bible studies and referrals.
