Indecent assault on a child charges filed

LEWISTOWN — A local man was held without bail after admitting to police he inappropriately touched his 2-year-old child.

John Wilmer Fetters Jr., 37, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Craig Weston last week on 52 counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child and three counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer with Lewistown Police Department responded to a report from a family member on Nov. 22, stating that Fetters inappropriately touched his 2-year-old child in a sexual manner.

On Nov. 25, police received a Children and Youth Services report stating that Fetters admitted to inappropriately touching the child. Police said Fetters admitted in an interview with Children and Youth that he committed numerous sex acts with the child on numerous occasions.

The report says Fetters told police his wife used the child’s hand to touch (Fetters) inappropriately on at least three occasions.

Fetters told police he sexually assaulted the child at least once a week since October 2024.

Fetters is being held without bail in Mifflin County Correctional Facility. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for at 9 a.m. Dec. 10.
