Mahantango Access in Snyder County to be closed
HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission says the Mahantango Access, which provides fishing and boating access to the Susquehanna River in Chapman Township, Snyder County, will be temporarily closed from October 6-17, 2025.
During this time, improvements will be made to the boat ramp. While work is being completed at the Mahantango Access, anglers and boaters should plan accordingly to find alternate access to the Susquehanna River by using the PFBC’s Liverpool Access downstream.
The PFBC thanks the public for their patience and understanding as these improvements are completed.
Huntingdon County Liberty Tree dedication Oct. 4
HUNTINGDON — The public is invited to the Huntingdon County Liberty Tree dedication Saturday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. in Riverside Park, 17 Pennsylvania Ave., Huntingdon (near the 4th Street Bridge).
Bring a lawn chair and join a meaningful community event. The dedication is part of a larger effort to plant 67 Liberty Trees, one in each county across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in honor of our nation’s upcoming 250th Anniversary.
In the years leading up to the American Revolution, Liberty Trees served as gathering places for the Sons of Liberty in all 13 colonies. Under their branches, ideas were exchanged, voices were raised and the seeds of American independence were sown.
Join the dedication to honor this living symbol of freedom and unity. All are welcome. All are invited.
