Fairs, festivals, First Friday this weekend

Photo courtesy of DCNR The Little Buffalo Stage will host the Summer Beat Music Fest on Saturday.

From Piggy Plog Bingo to petting zoos and some good old-fashioned bean soup to First Friday, there’s plenty on tap this weekend as the Juniata River Valley prepares for fall.

Heck, there’s even a Goose Day photo shoot and for football die-hards … Penn State football. (The Nittany Lions host Florida International at noon Saturday at Beaver Stadium.)

Piggy Plop Bingo arrives at the 171st Annual Juniata County Fair on Friday at noon in the Empire Kosher Barn at the Juniata County Fairgrounds in Port Royal. It’s a fun, messy and hilarious fundraiser for the Turbett Grange, Barn Committee and local youth organizations that empower

tomorrow’s leaders.

Friday’s slate also includes a kids’ painting party in the barn, while the live entertainment on the Free Stage includes Juniata County’s Got Talent and the Ryan Carter Band. For auto racing aficionados there’s also the Night Before the 50 feature at Port Royal Speedway.

On Saturday, the fair wraps up with Katz 22 on the Free Stage, a giant ice cream sundae bash in the Commercial Building and the Tuscarora 50 title is up for grabs at the Speed Palace.

There’s plenty to do this weekend, so check out these things:
