Millerstown man faces felonies
From staff reports
MILLERSTOWN — Hunter Harvey, of Millerstown, has been arrested following an alleged domestic attack.
Harvey, 27, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard C. Gibney and faces three felony strangulation charges and three felony endangerment charges, as well as multiple misdemeanor and simple charges.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police were dispatched to a domestic altercation at 1685 Goldie Hollow Road in Monroe Township after a 911 call reporting the dispute.
The report says the victim went to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown barracks to report the incident, stating that physical altercations began with the defendant on June 29, after a verbal altercation allegedly turned violent.
The victim related to police that they were sitting on the couch with a minor when Harvey “kicked (the victim) in the right shin” and continued yelling. He had gone outside and the victim went to the door to tell him to stop.
The victim reported that Harvey came over, picked them up off the ground with his hands around their throat before forcing them to the ground where he began to “choke (them) with both hands.”
The victim had attempted to push Harvey away with their legs to which he responded with punches to the left thigh of the victim, which “caused a bruise.”
Later in the day, the victim had gone to lay down and Harvey was to feed the minor. According to the reports, while the victim was walking towards their bedroom Harvey pushed them by the arms into the bathroom door, and grabbed them by the throat again.
The victim related that Harvey forced them to the ground by means of choking again and reported that their “breathing was restricted.” Upon letting the victim go, Harvey continued yelling while he brought the minor to the victim to feed.
According to reports, while the victim was feeding the minor and crying, Harvey smashed the bottle intended for the minor and asked why they were crying before grabbing the victim by the throat and choking them again.
The victim told police another incident occurred on June 30 after Harvey got home from work and another verbal altercation had begun. The two did not speak again until later that evening when the victim was getting the minor ready for bed and went to the front porch.
Harvey followed them to the porch and was cussing and yelling before grabbing the victim by the back of the head, pulling them into the house.
Once in the house, the victim states that Harvey pushed them back the hall towards the bedroom then grabbed them by the throat and pushed them against a wall. Harvey also grabbed the face of the victim causing his thumb to push into and leave a red mark on the victim.
The victim then told police on July 1 at 3 p.m. Harvey came home from work while the victim was doing dishes, a verbal dispute regarding “family issues” began and when the victim went to pick up the minor at which time Harvey pushed their arm away causing the minor to roll on the couch.
The victim resumed doing the dishes and alleged Harvey grabbed them with one hand by the throat for “several seconds” before letting go and pushing them toward the sink.
According to the victim, Harvey then picked up a steak knife and pointed it towards them before referring to a recent alleged homicide involving a former Lewistown resident, asking the victim if they also wanted to “end up” like that victim.
When things calmed down and Harvey left the police were contacted.
According to the reports, the victim sustained a black and blue mark on their right arm, a bruise on their left thigh, several red marks around their neck, a small yellow bruise on the left side of their chest, and a mark on their lips from the reported incidents.
Harvey was located at approximately 8 p.m. at his mothers house and was taken into custody with no incident. He agreed to questioning; Harvey indicated to police that there were several altercations but “he did not think he grabbed (the victim) by (their) throat specifically” and claimed to have grabbed the sweatshirt collar of the victim causing it to tear on June 29.
Harvey admitted to having kicked the victim, grabbing their face and grabbing during the altercations.
When asked about the knife incident, Harvey stated he was beside the victim in the kitchen when he grabbed a knife, but said he “did not point it at her.”
Harvey claims that the victim was the one that brought up the recent alleged homicide stating, “I don’t want to end up like her.” To which Harvey said he put the knife away.
Harvey said the only physical contact the victim had with him during disputes was kicking him in the side and grabbing him by the arm.
Harvey is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown, unable to post bail set at $25,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9.
