Local lawmaker to host efficiency hearing

LEWISTOWN — House Republican Police Committee Chairman David Rowe (R-Snyder/Union/Mifflin/Juniata) and other lawmakers will address opportunities for Pennsylvania governments to run more efficiently and effectively.

Pennsylvania State Treasurer Stacy Garrity will testify.

The hearing will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 24 and will be livestreamed at www.policycommittee.com.

Outage may cause difficulty accessing 911

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County Office of Public Safety reported Friday that a circuit problem affecting Alfarata and Lewistown telephone exchanges in Mifflin County was reported.

The outage is causing some delays/outages in local calls and access to 911 for landline, VoIP and cellular callers.

Local callers who cannot dial 911 directly can call the 911 Center at (717) 248-9600 while the traditional number is out of service.
