Man charged after vehicle accident

MILROY — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a vehicle accident at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.

The report states that Zackary Laplante, 27, of McClure, was traveling eastbound on state Route 322 when he broke hard, causing him to lose control of the 2002 Dodge Dakota he was operating. Police said Laplante traced off the western side of the roadway striking an embankment causing disabling damages.

Laplante said that he was not injured.

Facebook scammers claiming to be federal officials

THOMPSONTOWN — On Wednesday, April 4, Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown began to investigate an online scam.

The report states that around 5 a.m. an unknown individual using a facebook profile pretending to be a federal agent began corresponding with a 68-year-old Thompsontown man promising large amounts of money after being sent a small amount first.

Police said the man gave $975 worth of prepaid apple gift cards to the individual in question.

Officers are still investigating.
