Backpack program to begin in June
MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County Food Pantry’s summer backpack program will be available to any child from kindergarten through eighth grade in Juniata County who also received free and reduced lunches during the school year from June 3 through Aug. 23.
Each student will receive food for 20 lunches for each month. In May, parents/legal guardians can call the Food Pantry to make an appointment for registration; at the appointment there must be a copy of the child/children’s report card as proof of Juniata County School District attendance.
Anyone who is interested in donating food items for the program may deliver them to the Juniata County Food Pantry at 114 N. Main Street in Mifflintown.
Suggested items for donation include: cans or cups of pasta meals; single-serve rice and/or mac ‘n cheese cups; microwave meals; ready-to-heat soups; fruit cups; snack/cereal bars, single-serve cereal, and pudding & Jell-O cups.
