Calendar

The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

• Soup sale — 11 a.m. for pick up, Saturday, March 15, Milroy Presbyterian Church, 321 S. Main St., Milroy. Must be picked up by 12:30 p.m. unless other arrangements have been made. • Ham potpie meal — 4-6 p.m., Saturday March 22, Milroy United Methodist Church. Takeout only by donation. Menu: Ham potpie, coleslaw, applesauce, roll and cake. Reserve by March 19 at (717) 667-9577 or (717) 667-2423.

• Mifflin County Farm Bureau spring meeting — 6 p.m., March 26, Hoss’s, 23 Hoss Dr., Lewistown. To RSVP, call (717) 250-5562 or (717) 438-5818 by March 19.

• Shining Light Through Darkness/Freedom Avenue UMC soup sale — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, March 28, 513 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham. Soups available: beef vegetable, chicken corn, creamy potato, French onion, ham bean and stuffed pepper. Cost is $8 per quart. Walk-ins welcome. Preorders recommended. •Kish Class of 1966 ladies’ luncheon — 11:15 a.m., Bel-Vue Inn, Reedsville.

•Red Cross blood drive — noon to 6 p.m., Burnham Lions Club, Burnham. Canteen will serve corned beef and cabbage along with sandwiches and desserts to those who donate blood. Sign up on the Red Cross blood drive site or come as a walk-in. For appointments and “Rapid Pass” visit: www.redcross.org.

• Coffee with friends — 9 a.m.- to noon at Lack-Tuscarora EMS, 9320 Route 75 South, East Waterford.

•Blood drive — 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thompsontown Ambulance League. Appointments requested. For appointments and “Rapid Pass” visit: www.redcross.org.

• Bingo — doors open at 5 p.m., Early birds start at 6:30 p.m., Beale Township Fire Co.

•Open house — 5 to 7 p.m., Belleville Mennonite School. Homemade turkey dinner served at 5 p.m. Cost for the meal is $12 with both dine-in and carry-out available. Families who sign up for a tour can enjoy a free turkey dinner. Interactive tour in the elementary building at 5:15, 5:45 or 6:15 p.m.

• Single mom support group — 6:30 to 8 p.m., New Life Church Cafe, 101 Beech St., Burnham. Dinner served from 6:30-7 for mothers and children. Child care from 7 to 8 p.m. while mothers meet in a group. More information: call or text (717) 437-4946.

Saturday

•BSA Troop 4 Grand Slam breakfast fundraiser — 8 to 11 a.m., Lewistown Presbyterian Church. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice and coffee will be served. Tickets are available at the door, $10 for adults, $8 for youth ages 5-10, children under age 5 are free with a paying adult.

•LHS Class of 1958 breakfast — 9 a.m., Honey Creek Inn, Old Rte. 322, Reedsville. Classmates, spouses and friends are welcome. Information: (717) 994-7383.

•Mifflin County Democratic Committee coffee chat — 1 p.m., Belleville Community Hall, 11 Walnut St., Belleville. Share thoughts, spark ideas and meet fellow community members.

•Line dancing fundraiser — 6 to 7 p.m. instruction, 7 to 10 p.m. open dancing, Beavertown Rescue Hose Fire/Ambulance Co., 222 S. Sassafras St., Beavertown. $10 per person. Refreshments available for purchase.
