February is busy month at the LUMINA Center

LEWISTOWN — The staff at the LUMINA Center is always very busy. This month is no different.

The center’s after-school program does many fun things for children, including giving back, even in the simplest ways.

The after-school program includes homework, reading and math centers, music, devotional/Bible time, gym time, games, crafts, snacks, social and emotional learning and character development. The program, for students in 1st through 6th grades, operates September to May, Monday through Thursday, from 3 to 5 p.m. Students must register to attend.

On Monday, Feb. 10, after-school kids are going to be hard at work making Valentines for the residents of Valley View Retirement Village.

On Friday, Feb. 14, students will have an Act 80 Day and the LUMINA Center will have activities. The event is full. No more reservations are being accepted.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the after-school program will be joined by the Red Hat Ladies to come play bingo from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 28, The LUMINA Center is hosting a free family event “Self Care Matters,” focused on taking care of yourself and your family. This is an event for the whole family from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be some Zumba fun as well as self care activities, crafts, games and snacks.
