The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

•Benefit auction — 8:30 a.m., Saturday, March 8, LUMINA Center, Lewistown. All proceeds benefit the support of free LUMINA Center programming for at-risk children and youth. The center is soliciting new and used items of value. Call the LUMINA Center with items to be donated at (717) 242-2888 or (717) 247-8430 or email luminacenter18@gmail.com by March 3. Smaller items may be dropped off at the LUMINA Center. Larger items can be picked up by LUMINA personnel by prior arrangement with the center. Will not be receiving any donations after noon on March 5 unless prior arrangements have been made.

• Shining Light Through the Darkness soup sale — Pick up between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church. Soups: Beef vegetable, chicken corn, creamy potato, French onion, ham bean and stuffed pepper. Cost is $8 per quart. Baked goods will be available for purchase.

• Bag sale — 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Shelter Thrift Shop, 17 Depot St., Lewistown. All Valentine and winter clothing $3 per bag.

• Sacred Heart Thrift Shop bag sale — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown. Clothing and shoes $5 per bag.

• Community meal — 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Pine Glen Church of the Brethren. Menu: Ham potpie, pepper slaw, roll and dessert. Open to the communities. Join the fellowship and meal. Eat-in only. No take-outs.

• Benefit spaghetti dinner — Drive-thru pick-up begins at 3 p.m. at door no. 17 at rear of building. Follow signs. Dine-in from 4 to 7 p.m. or until sold out, Mifflin County Academy, 700 Pitt St., Lewistown. Dinner includes salad, bread, spaghetti w/ meat sauce and dessert. All proceeds benefit families of Juniata Terrace fire.

• Bingo — doors open at 5 p.m., Early birds start at 6:30 p.m., Beale Township Fire Co.

• Fly-in, Drive-in, Walk-in breakfast — 8 to 10:30 a.m., EAA Club House, Mifflin County Airport Hanger 4. “World Famous Omelet” plus side dishes. Sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 518.

•LGHS Class of 1965 luncheon — 11 a.m., Sal-lee’s Dream.

•Soup, salad and baked goods supper — Dine-in 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Take-out 3:30 to 5 p.m., First Baptist Church of Juniata, 23964 Route 35, Mifflintown. Hosted by Juniata County Foster and Adopt Family Support Group. Soups, salad bar, breads and desserts. Donation-based pricing. Proceeds benefit local foster and adoptive families and children. •Miss Central Pennsylvania Competition — 4 p.m., Mifflin County Middle School, 2 Manor Dr., Lewistown.

•Free concert — 7 p.m. (Penn State Singing Lions), 8:20 p.m. (Nittany Wranglers Bluegrass Band), Ellen Chapel Church Coffee House. Snacks, iced tea and coffee will be provided.. No charge to attend. Donations will be accepted. Open to the entire community.
