Man arrested following breaking and entering attempt

LEWISTOWN — A 27 year-old man was arrested following attempts to forcefully gain entry into a Lewistown residence.

Devian Anthony Jimenez-Rounds, of Lewistown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Craig A. Weston on Dec. 22 under charges of criminal attempt, burglary and criminal mischief, property damage.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Mifflin County Dispatch received a call at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 21 from a victim stating Jimenez-Rounds was attempting to gain access to their house.

When patrolmen arrived on scene they canvassed the area on foot and witnessed Jimenez-Rounds at the back door of the apartment “attempting to gain entry.”

The responding officers called out to Jimenez-Rounds but he “attempted to walk away.” They then ordered Jimenez-Round to the ground “to which he refused [the] commands twice.

Subsequently, the arresting officer “approached, grabbed Jimenez-Rounds’ left arm, and escorted him to the ground” and he was placed under arrest.

When the victim was interviewed, they relayed that Jimenez-Rounds showed up that night attempting to speak to them. The back door had been locked “but Jimenez-Rounds broke the door and the latch as he attempted to make entry.”

Jimenez-Rounds was transported to Mifflin County Correctional Facility, where he is being held awaiting his preliminary hearing slated for Dec. 30. Bail has been set at $25,000.
