Driver’s license centers closed
YEAGERTOWN — All driver license and photo centers will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, in observance of the New Year’s holiday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including all forms, publications, and driver training manuals, online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website.
Driver and vehicle online services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and include driver’s license, photo ID and vehicle registration renewals; driver-history services; changes of address; driver license and vehicle registration restoration letters; ability to pay driver license or vehicle insurance restoration fee; driver license and photo ID duplicates; REAL ID pre-verification; and driver exam scheduling. There are no additional fees for using online services.

Mifflin County Garden Club
scholarships available
LEWISTOWN — Each year the Mifflin County Garden Club offers a local scholarship to students who plan to further their education in agriculture education, agronomy, floriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture, botany, biology (excluding medical), conservation, environmental concerns, forestry, plant pathology, rural/urban planning, wildlife science, land management, and/or allied subjects.
An additional 13 PA State scholarship opportunities are available. Applicants for all scholarships/grants must be residents of Pennsylvania and sponsored by a Federated Garden Club. The college or university is of the recipient’s choice. Only one application needs to be filled out to be considered for each of the 14 scholarships.
Each scholarship award is a minimum of $1,000.
Deadline for completed applications to be received is Feb. 1, 2025. Application for all scholarships can be obtained at the GCFP website https://pagardenclubs.org by selecting “Forms Library > GCFP Scholarship Fund Application Forms (PDF)”.
All completed applications must be sent by hard copy, USPS, to the PA state scholarships chairperson, Sandra Hendricks, 411 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777-1619, and a copy via email to the local scholarship chairperson, Ann Lauder, ann@lauderville.com.
