Calendar
The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Sand tart cookie sale — pickup noon to 6 p.m., Dec. 17, Decatur Fire Co. Cookhouse, Route 522 North, Alfarata. Pick up only. $10 per pound, $5 per half pound. Order at (717) 543-0921 by Saturday, Dec. 14.

•Coffee with friends — 9 a.m.-noon at Lack-Tuscarora EMS, 9320 South Route 75, East Waterford.
•Sacred Heart Thrift Shop bag sale — 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 4 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown. Clothing and shoes $5 per bag.
•Community meal — 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Pine Glen Church of the Brethren fellowship hall. Menu will be ham loaf, parsley potatoes, harvard beets, roll and dessert.
•Bingo — doors open at 5 p.m., Early birds start at 6:30 p.m., Beale Township Fire Company.
•McCoy House Museum — open 5-9 p.m., 17 N. Main St., Lewistown.
•Free Family Movie Night — 7 p.m., Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church. Free drinks and snacks provided.

•Christmas craft show — 8 a.m.-2 p.m., St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown.
•Bake sale — 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Wagner United Methodist Church, 6280 Rte. 522 N., McClure.
•Christmas bazaar — 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 42 S. Main St., Milroy.
•Graceful Soles Shoe Bank — 9 a.m.-noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.
•Cookie walk — 10 a.m.-noon, East Salem Community Church, 7398 PA-235, Mifflintown. Soup, sandwiches and crafts available.
•Christmas Around The Square — 6 p.m., McVeytown Borough. Annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. There will be food vendors, a visit from Santa and gift bags. After the ceremony, the McVeytown Masonic Lodge will be open for tours. Rain date is Dec. 8.
Sunday
•Hoopes School — open 1-3 p.m., Long Ln., Lewistown.
•McCoy House Museum — open 1-3 p.m., 17 N. Main St., Lewistown.
•Let Freedom Ring concert — 3 p.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church. Performed by Lewistown Community Choir.
•Movie night — 6:30 p.m., Reedsville United Methodist Church, 82 East Logan Street. Refreshments will be served. The movie is “Christmas Manger.”
